Task: Work on Integrating Limelight and Build the Linear Slide
Today saw a creative leap forward with a prototype for an A-frame and pulley system, designed to rotate the linear slide from a parallel to a perpendicular position relative to the ground. Though the design is still rough, it’s an important first draft to explore the concept. Plans are underway to improve the bridge-to-A-frame connection, potentially using a Ninjaflex hinge or a GoBilda hinge adapter, if suitable. The overall frame and bridge design will be refined through iterations, with a focus on making the linear slide’s rotation smooth and quick.
Additionally, initial work began with the Limelight camera for color blob detection. Key observations on the camera’s performance include its high saturation levels and challenges in distinguishing adjacent samples of the same color, even with contour filtering. While it can detect one or two blocks at a time under specific conditions, samples in close proximity often register as a single blob. The camera’s rectangular shape fitting, sensitivity to lighting, and reliance on the Erosion Function for contour refinement were noted as areas for improvement.
