Task: Present to engineers from Eli Lilly & Co.
Today, we met with Robotics Application Engineers from Eli Lilly & Co, a pharmaceutical company that manufactures medicine using biotechnology and machinery.
We first started off by going over our Summer projects (Simply Swerve and RoboSpyne). We talked about how we came up with the swerve’s design and refined it over the summer. Then, we discussed how we could orient our swerve modules on the chassis to be as effective as possible. With the RoboSpyne, we talked about how we were inspired by the human spine and many parts of the Spyne directly correlated with specific parts of the human spine. Having a game strategy in mind, we talked about how useful the Spyne would be in actual game play this year. Ultimately, we decided that the Spyne would not be useful this season since it can not carry large loads and since it despools easily.
Lastly, we demoed the Nacelle Chassis and talked about how the subsystems would be implemented in the chassis. We finished by presenting our new limelight system for object detection and how it could help us moving forward.
Overall, we had several interesting and engaging conversations with our mentor and we received a lot of helpful feedback. For the future, we set up a plan with our mentor to have consistent meetings to talk about progress and receive constant feedback that we can incorporate. Thank you so much to our mentor from Eli Lilly & Co!
