2024 Flyset Workshop By Fernando, Ren, Nalin, Nirjha, Alyssa, and Pavit

This past Saturday, we presented at the 10th annual Flyset Workshop, hosted by team 8565, TechnicBots and UTD.

We had an amazing time listening to several different presentations all the way from team 18139’s (Rebel Robotics) tips and insights about their world winning portfolio to a presentation about obtaining sponsorships from 12993 (Robokings), a team all the way from Australia. We also got to give our own presentation over the 2 year evolution of our Tri-Swerve Chassis.

Swervolicious - Evolution of a Swerve Module

Our presentation first covered a quick recap of all the iterations we covered at last year’s workshop when we had first initially started designing the swerve. Then, we transitioned into the fifth version of the swerve module explaining specific design choices as well as how it was powered. We also covered the three different chassis designs that we tested with before we got to our current Swervolicious Carbon-Fiber Chassis. As for the code aspects, we described our ambitions of creating an n-swerve controller that would be compatible with Roadrunner that is capable of handling any number of swerve modules on the chassis. Finally, we covered our future plans and things still left to do on the chassis.

We hope to finally use our Swerve Chassis for this year’s FTC competition season. Thank you so much to TechnicBots, UTD, and everyone else that helped this special event happen!
